Water Europe works on water scarcity by convening utilities, industry, researchers, and policymakers to promote water-efficient solutions and resilience planning. Its approach emphasizes innovation, policy dialogue, and integrated water management, including measures that improve efficiency, reuse, and adaptation to climate-driven scarcity.
DG Environment tackles PFAS water pollution through EU-wide regulation and monitoring requirements. It has introduced drinking-water limits and, since January 2026, requires Member States to monitor PFAS levels in all drinking water and ensure compliance with limit values; it also works on updating water-pollutant lists so new substances can be monitored and more strictly controlled.
